Educated mainly by private governess and tutor. Studied, 1883-1890, Saint Mary's of the Woods, Indiana.
Began artistic career in New York, 1892. Went to London, 1896, and painted the King (then the Prince of Wales), and most of the highest aristrocracy of England. In 1899 was summoned to Russia to paint the Emperor and Empress and the Grand Duchesses Vladimir and Ellen.
In autumn of 1899 went to South Africa to paint Honorary Cecil Rhodes.
