Amano Takesuke was born in Aichi Prefecture.
He was a graduate of the Military Academy.
He was colonel attached to the Third Infantry Regiment in Tokyo at the time of the coup. Young officers of the regiment, dissatisfied with the Government's policy toward China, rose in revolt on February 26,1936, mobilized troops, assassinated leaders of the Government and occupied Goverjiment buildings. The same day, Amano, at the order of the regimental commander, saw the young officers and tried to persuade them to surrender in vain. He again called on them on the night of February 28 but they refused to see him. On February 29, he killed himself with his pistol by way of urging the rebels to reconsider.
