At an early age, he entered the office of Francis R. Allen as student-draftsman and continued in the employ of Allen & Collens after the organization of that firm in 1904. In 1926 he was taken into the firm as a full partner, and in the following years was identified with the design of many of the firm's most important buildings. Among these were the Peabody Home, Pelham Parkway, New York (1926); the United Church at Bridgeport, Conn., several buildings at the Hartford (Conn.) Theological Seminary, namely the Library, Pedagogy Building, dormitories, and living apartments; First Methodist Church at Bridgeport, Conn., (1930); Christ Church, Winnetka, 111. National Memorial Universalist Church at Washington, D.C. (1930); City Hall at Marlboro, Mass.; and at the Union Theological Seminary, New York, McGiffert Hall, Chapel, Administration Building, the Library .dormitories and suites for the faculty.
