Amos Frumkin was born on February 20, 1953 in Tel Aviv, Israel in a family of Haim Jacob and Ruth Frumkin.
Amos Frumkin started his education at Technion Technological Institute, where he studied geodetic engineering. After that he studied at Hebrew University of Jerusalem. There he was majoring in natural and earth sciences. His last but not least educational institution was McMaster University in Canada.
Amos Frumkin serves as a professor at the Institute of Earth Sciences, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. His interests include karst and cave morphology, cave sediments as indicators of paleoclimate, paleohydrology, the development of karst aquifers, and geoarchaeology. The research is mostly associated with speleological features studied using earth-sciences methods, such as geomorphology, modern dating, and stable isotopes.He has authored or co-authored over 100-refereed articles and eight books. He's also known for being an editor of "Niqrot Zurim". As an active speleologist, he founded and directs the Cave Research Center of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
