Her debut novel, Bloodroot, was a national bestseller. Her second novel, Long Manitoba, was published in March 2014. She is also a contributor to The New York Times among other publications. in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.
She received a Bachelor"s Degree from Vermont College in 2008.
In 2011 she was awarded the Weatherford Award for Fiction at Berea College.
