She has been selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the 3m springboard synchro event. As of 2012, she lives in Brisbane. Smith is 159 centimetres (63 in) tall and weighs 50 kilograms (110 lb).

She trains at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre. As of 2012, she is coached by Hui Tong.
In the 10 metre synchro event, with partner Stratton, at 2011 FINA World Championships, she finished third. She has been selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the 3m springboard synchro event.
She was named the 2011-2012 YoungStar Award Westside News Sport winner. Smith represented Australia at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, where she earned a bronze medal in the 10 metre synchro with partner Cole. As an eighteen-year-old, Smith and Sharleen Stratton won a bronze medal in the 3m springboard synchro at the 2011 World Aquatics Championships with a score of 306.90.
She has a diving scholarship with the Australian Institute of Sport and is a member of Gannets Club.
