Since 1926 writer; 1950-1958 board and Secretariat member, Lithuania Union of Writers. Deputy, USSR Supreme Soviet of 1946, 1950, 1954 and 1958 convocation. 1957 Deputy Chairman, Soviet- Polish Friendship Society.

Since 1958 member, Soviet Committee Defense of Peace. 1930-1931 Editor, journal “Tretiy front” (The Third Front). 1938 Editor, “Prosvet”.

1940-1943 Lithuania Popular Commissar of Education.
