Anatoly Leonidovich Durov was born on November 26, 1864 in Mariupol to a nobel familly.
Since his childhood he played in the circus arena. As a clown he made his debut in the circus M. Truzzi (Voronezh, December 1882). He toured Russia and abroad. He toured Russia and abroad. In 1901 he settled in Voronezh, on his estate he built a museum, where various exotic collections were presented, including a collection of paintings-dioramas of the work of Durov himself. The estate was visited by M.M. Petipa, I.M. Zaikin, F.I. Shalyapin, Prince P.A. Oldenburg, gr. P.S. Sheremetev and others. In 1912, the movie "War of the XX Century" was shot at the manor with the participation of an animal attraction. In 1914, there was also filmed the movie "Gold, Tears and Laughter", in which Durov played the main dramatic role of the clown Tolly.
