In 1973 Anatoly Bavykin graduated from the Leningrad State Institute of Culture named after N.K. Krupskaya. Then in 1987 he graduated from the Academy of Social Sciences under the Central Committee of the CPSU.
Anatoly Bavykin worked in the Voronezh mass media since 1958. Then in 1963-1979 he worked in the newspapers of the Murmansk region. Soon he became the editor-in-chief of the regional newspaper "Polyarnaya Pravda" (1979-1992). In 1993 Anatoly Petrovich Bavykin became the executive secretary and then in 1995 the deputy editor-in-chief of the Voronezh newspaper "Kommuna".
As a cartoonist Anatoly Petrovich was published in the satirical magazine "Krokodil" and some other major publications, participated in many exhibitions of caricatures within his country and abroad (Finland, Sweden). Besides, Bavykin's drawings have appeared in every issue of the Kommuna newspaper for more than 15 years.
Anatoly Bavykin is the author of several collections of drawings published in Voronezh: "Karikatury" (1997), "Smekh. Da i Tol'ka" (2002), "Chto Nasha Zhizn'? Karikatura..." .
