Although he was one of the most powerful retainers of the Takedas, he fell out with Katsuyori, successor to Shingen, and sided with Nobunaga Oda in 1581. After the death of Kat.suyori, he was given Koma County, which belonged to the Takedas, by Nobunaga. Later he joined the camp of Ieyasu Tokugawa. At the time of Mi- tsuhiSe Akechi’s revolt against Nobunaga (1582), he could not decide whether to support Mitsuhide or Hideyoshi, Nobu- na^a’s successor. He was ambushed and killed by guerrillas while on his way to Kai Province.
