he learned the Sanron doctrine of Buddhism under Zengi of the Daianji Temple (Nara Prefecture).
Career
Well versed in esoteric Buddhism, he was a noted controversialist in the Daianji Temple. None but Taien of the Saidaiji Temple was said to have been able to hold his own against Anch in religious argument. Ancho was so good at polemics that he participated in religious discussions held in the Imperial Court. Chur on Soki is the title of a collection of his dissertations amounting to 20 volumes he result of his hard study from 801 until 807.
