Anders Ahlm studied at the University of Uppsala, where he completed a Bachelor of Laws, also described as Candidate of Law, in 1982. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Uppsala University was founded in 1477 through a papal bull, and it is the oldest university in Sweden and in the Nordic countries. In its early years, its teaching centred mainly on philosophy, law, and theology, which places his legal studies within one of the longest-established academic traditions in Scandinavia.
Anders Ahlm is a partner at Advokatfirman Vinge, a Swedish law firm. Vinge was formed in 1983 through the merger of four law firms based in Gothenburg and Stockholm, Stockholm, Helsingborg, and Malmö, and the merger produced what was described as the first commercial law firm in Sweden with full-service capability.
The firm has since grown into one of the largest law firms in Sweden and Scandinavia, with a practice covering business law, mergers and acquisitions, competition law, and a range of specialist fields. Its offices are in several Swedish cities, and it also has a presence in Brussels.
In 1993 Vinge established a scholarship that awards prizes for outstanding business law theses from the universities of Uppsala, Lund, Stockholm, and Gothenburg, reflecting the firm's links with Swedish legal education.
Anders Ahlm was a member of Sveriges advokatsamfund, the Swedish Bar Association, which is the professional body for lawyers in Sweden. The association oversees the advokat title, which Swedish law protects and reserves for its members.
The association's objectives include maintaining high ethical standards in the legal profession, and it also publishes the magazine Tidskriften Advokaten for its members.
