Education
He studied Western painting under Yoshuchi Takahashi and excelled in painting human figures.
Career
Won an honorary mention for his entry at an international exhibition held in Paris in 1889. In 1893, visited the United States and exhibited his works at the Chicago Exposition. Was responsible for a large number of portraits of famous persons in the Meiji and Taisho Eras, including Prince Hirobumi Ito.
