Career
He served Ieyasu Tokugawa, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate, when young. After Ieyasu moved to Suruga (Shizuoka Prefecture) in retirement, Ando was made tutor to Yorinobu, son of Ieyasu. Upon Yorinobu becoming the Lord of Kii, he followed Yorinobu to that province as one of his principal retainers. Distinguished himself for his wise management of his territory.
