Began life as a sculptor’s moulder and drifted into carving and afterwards modelling. Obtained a scholarship at Royal Academy Schools, and while there took 1st prize (silver medal) antique. 1st prize silver medal (£50) for modelling from life.
1st and 2nd Armitage Prizes for Design (£40). Also Landseer Scholar, £80. Exhibited at Edinburgh and Cardiff, and continuously at Royal Academy since 1881.
New Gallery, etc.; gold medal, Dresden, 1897. First class gold medal, Paris, 1900. Sculptor.
