Thorvald Andreas Rasmus Andresen was a photographic apprentice from 1907 to 1910, and studied at the Copenhagen Institute of Technology in 1911.
Thorvald Andreas Rasmus Andresen operated his own photographic studio in Denmark from 1916 to 1936. He taught at the Professional School of the Danish Photographers' Association at Copenhagen Institute of Technology, 1928-1934, and again in 1943, becoming the director from 1944 until 1947.
From 1939 to 1960 he had his own studio in Copenhagen, specializing in portraits, interior decoration and architecture. From 1960 on he concentrated on gardens, architecture and arts and crafts, until 1970, when he retired to the island of Funen.
He was the recipient of a gold award in 1952 and a silver medal in 1933 from the Danish Photographers' Association. The photographer's work, consisting of extensive coverage of Danish gardens, interior decoration, and Danish museums, has been widely published in magazines and books in Denmark, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Norway and Sweden.
