He had previously played at 1. Football Club Nürnberg since 2002 and was the team captain before leaving in the summer of 2011. Before the team"s relegation in 2003 Wolf played in 18 games for the "Club".
He became a regular during Nürnberg"s successful promotion campaign in the 2003-2004 season, playing in 31 of 34 games.
He could not reprise his role as first-team regular during the following two seasons, when he was plagued by injuries. With the start of the 2006-2007 season, however, Wolf was back in the starting line-up alongside fellow centre-back Gláuber.
After nine seasons for "the club", Wolf left Nürnberg after there was offer from the club In July 2011, he moved to Werder Bremen on a two-year contract.
Wolf made 15 appearances and announced his desire to leave the club because of his injury concerns and personal reasons as the main factor.
Monaco
In January 2012, Wolf signed a two-year contract (with an option of extending for a further year) with AS Monaco in the French Ligue 2 for an undisclosed fee. After making two appearances for the club in the first half of the 2011-2012 season, it was announced that Wolf was appointed as a new captain of Monaco, under the new manager Claudio Ranieri. Despite being appointed captain, Wolf"s first team playing time soon became limited due to new signings as well as his own injuries.
