In 1907 Andrei Kolegaev was dismissed from the Kharkiv University.
Since 1906 Andrei Kolegaev was a member of the Socialist Revolutionary Party (the SRs), participated in the arrangement of terroristic acts and revolutionary « expropriations». He was repeatedly arrested, in 1909 exiled for 4 years abroad, lived in Paris, was a member of the Socialist Revolutionary Party assistance group. After the February Revolution of 1917, he was one of the leaders of the left socialist-revolutionaries in Kazan, since May a member of the Kazan Governmental Zemstvo Council, as well as the chairman of the Kazan Governmental Council of Peasant Deputies, which under his leadership decided to transfer the private estates to the jurisdiction of the volost land committees (K. refused to comply with the request of the Provisional Government to cancel this decision). Since October 1917 a member of the Petrograd Committee of the Socialist-Revolutionaries. Participant of the October Revolution in Petrograd, a member of the Second All-Russian Congress of Soviets of Workers' and Soldiers' Deputies. At the founding congress of the left socialist-revolutionaries of the party (The Party of Left Socialist-Revolutionaries), he was elected a member of its Central Committee (November\December 1917). Since 25.11.1917(8.12.1917) in the People's Commissariat for Agriculture. Participated in the development of the Regulations on Land Committees [approved no later than 12 (25). 12. 1917] and the Fundamental Law of Land Socialization [27.1(9.2) .1918]. Supported the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly (Jan. 1918). Like other left SRs, he condemned the Peace of Brest of 1918, but considered it wrong to break the government coalition with the Bolsheviks; obeying the decision of the Central Committee of the Party of Left Socialist-Revolutionaries, he left the Council of People's Commissars (March 1918). Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Kazan Governmental Council (May-July 1918). He condemned the Left SR revolt of 1918. In November 1918, he joined the Russian Communist Party. Chief supply officer and a member of the Revolutionary Military Council (January – June 1919) of the Southern Front; during the implementation of the policy of the food dictatorship, he led the activities of food detachments in the South of Russia. Chairman of the Center of the Military Preparations Division at the Supreme Soviet of the National Economy (June 1919-January 1920). Then he was engaged in the household work. In 1936, he was arrested, accused of anti-Soviet activities, and sentenced to be shot by the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the Soviet Union. He was rehabilitated in 1957.
