Sir Andrew Large was Deputy Governor of the Bank of England, and a member of its Monetary Policy Committee from September 2002 to January 2006.
Background
Andrew McLeod Brooks Large was born 7 August 1942, the son of Major General Stanley Eyre Large, Administration Member of the Order of the British Empire, and was educated at Winchester College and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge (Bachelor Honours and Master of Arts), and at European Institute of Business Administration (Institut Européen d'Administration des Affaires) Fontainebleau (Master of Business Administration).

Career
His career began with British Petroleum Limited (1964-1971). He was Chairman of the Securities and Investments Board (precursor of the Financial Services Authority Federal Security Agency) from 1992–1997, and deputy chairman of Barclays Bank from 1998–2002. Also, he is on the advisory board of OMFIF where he is regularly involved in meetings regarding the financial and monetary system.
He was Warden of Winchester College until he retired from that post in September 2008.
Membership
Subsequently he was an investment banker for twenty years becoming a member of the management board of Swiss Bank Corporation from 1987–1989.
