Putnam played college golf at Pepperdine University from 2008 to 2011. Putnam turned professional in 2011. He played on the eGolf Professional Tour in 2012. He first played on the Web.com Tour in 2013, finishing 49th on the money list, but not earning a Professional Golf Association Tour card. Andrew made his Professional Golf Association Tour debut at the 2014 Shell Houston Open, where he played in the same tournament as Michael, but missed the cut.
