1942-1945 chief epidemiologist, Soviet Navy. 1948-1951 chief epidemiologist, Soviet Army. 1948-1954 head, Department of Epidemiology, Military Faculty, Centr Postgraduate Medical Institute, Moscow.
1953-1965 head, laboratory of infectious pathology, Institute of Normal and Pathological Physiology, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Medical Sciences. 1930-1934 studied rickettsiosis in Iran. Ascertained role of Ornithodorus tholozani in transmission of Persian relapsing fever and demonstrated in experiments on animals the importance of Salmonella enteritidis and Salmonella cholera suis in the occurrence of complications attending this spirochetosis.
1936-1940 studied Marseilles fever and first proved its existence in the Crimea. During study of various infections produced autoinfection with sandfly fever and then brucellosis which enabled him to resolve various important problems of their pathogenesis and to determine their incubation periods.
