Since 1978 he is in the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, he held various positions in the central apparatus of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR and abroad, incl. the embassies of the USSR / RF in the Arab Republic of Egypt (1978-81), the Syrian Arab Republic (1984-88), the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (1991-95), and the United Arab Emirates (1999-2003).
Since 2004 - the Deputy Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry. Since 16.07.2005 -extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador in the State of Qatar. On 23.07.2009 he was appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary in the United Arab Emirates.
