Andrey ANDREEV, USSR Government and Party official. Former Chairman, Presidium, USSR Supreme Soviet; Chairman, Soviet-Chinese Friendship Society, since 1957; Presidium member, USSR Supreme Soviet, since 1954. two Order of Lenin. Member, Communist Party, since 1914.


ANDREEV, Andrey was born in 1895 in village Kuznetsovo, now Smolensk Oblast.


Since 1914 worked in cartridge-case shop, Petrograd. 1915-1917 member, Petrograd Committee, Russian Social-Democratic Labor Party (Bolsheviks), and one of organizers, Petrograd Metal Workers’ Union. 1917-1919 executive Party and Trade-Union work in Urals.

1919 member, Southern Bureau, All-Union Central Trade-Union Council in Ukrainia, then again Trade-Union work in Urals. 1920-1922 Secretary, All-Union Central Trade-Union Council. 1920-1961 Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party.

1922-1927 Chairman, Central Committee, Railroad Workers’ Trade-Union. 1924-1925 simultaneously Secretary, Central Committee, Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks). 1926-1930 candidate Political Bureau member of the Central Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks).

1927-1930 Secretary, North-Caucasian Kray Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks). 1930-1931 Chairman, Central Control Commission, AllUnion Communist Party (Bolsheviks), USSR Popular Commissar of Workers’ and Peasants’ Inspection, and Deputy Chairman, USSR Council of Popular Commissar. 1931-1935 USSR Popular Commissar of Transport.

1932-1952 Political Bureau member, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks). 1935-1946 simultaneously Secretary, Central Committee, AllUnion Communist Party (Bolsheviks). 1938-1945 Chairman, Soviet of the Union, USSR Supreme Soviet.

1939-1952 Chairman, Party Control Commission, Central Committee, AllUnion Communist Party (Bolsheviks). 1941-1942 commissioned by Central Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks), to handle military transports and railroad operation. 1943-1946 USSR Popular Commissar of Agriculture.

1946-1953 Deputy Chairman, USSR Supreme Soviet. Deputy, USSR Supreme Soviet of all convocation. Deputy, Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic, Ukrainia, Belarusian, Uzbek and Turkmenistan Supreme Soviet of 1955 convocation.
