In late 1880’s while still at school attended Narodnaya Volya (People's Will) club in Tomsk. Early 1890’s active in Moscow' underground student clubs. 1896 set up Socialist-Revol Union in Saratov.
Helped draft "basic tenets of SocialistRevol Union programm,” published in 1898 as a pamphlet entitled Nashi zadaclii (Our Tasks), with a brief outline history of revol movement. 1901 founded Russia’s first illegal SocialistRevol journal Revolyutsionnaya Rossiya. At 1st Socialist-Revol Party Congress (29 December 1905-1904 January 1906) elected member, Party’s first Central Committee.
1907 at 2nd Party Congress co-opted member, Central Committee. Subsequently elected to various senior Party posts. 1909, on behalf of Central Committee, negotiated u'ith former chief of police Associate of Arts Lopukhin and obtained from him evidence needed to unmask police informer Azef.
1914 sided with majority Party faction that approved the w'ar. Also contributed to Narodnaya Volya organs Za rubezhom and Novosti: September 1915, together with G.V. Plekhanov, North Dakota Avksent’ycv, Georgia Aleksinskiy, etc, signed the ’’Manifesto of the United Group of Social-Democrats and Socialist-Revolutionaries, Drafted at the 1915 Geneva Conference” proclaiming that ’’defeat of Russia in the war against Germany would also entail her defeat in the struggle for freedom”. After 1917 February Revol contributed to newspaper Volya naroda - organ of right-wing Socialist-Revol faction.
1918 member, Ufa Directory (All-Russian Provisional Government”). Late 1918 emigrated.
