1914 arrested for revol activities and exiled to Narym Kray, whence he escaped. Revol work in Samara, the Urals and Petrograd. July-September 1917 worked for newspaper Tsinya and Okopnaya pravda.
Dclcg, 6th Party Congress. Active in October Coup in Petrograd. 1917-1918 comissar of refugee affairs at People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs in Moscow.
May 1918-January 1919 chief, Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic Police. 1919-1923 in Red Army as head, Special Department, 10th and 16th Armies. Staff comissar, 1st Mounted Army.
1923-1926 worked abroad. Until 1934 worked for various organs of People's Commissariat of Foreign Trade. From 1935 worked for Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics People's Commissariat of Agric and for Moscow and Kiev research institutes.
