1897 graduate Rybinsk classical high school. 1901 graduate natural sci division Physics and Mathematics Faculty, Saint St. Petersburg University.
1901-1907 meadow-culture inspector for Yaroslavl’ Province Department of Agriculture 1907-1910 worked for Yaroslavl’ Province former local government authority and chairman, Yaroslavl’ Regional Studies Social. 1911-1914 research assignments to Germany, Sweden, Denmark and the United States of America.
1912 recruited by V. R. Vil’yams as assistant to organize advanced courses in meadow culture at the Petrine (later Timiryazev) Agric Academy and served as assistant director of these courses until 1922. 1916-1922 lecturer, 1922-1946 professor and head, Department of Meadow Culture, Timiryazev Agric Academy. 1916-1923 simultaneously professor of meadow culture, Golitsyn Higher Agric Courses.
1930-1936 professor and head, Department of Fodder Production, Moscow Zootechnical Institute. 1932-1941 professor of meadow culture, Moscow’s Stalin Indiana Academy. V. R. Vil’yams’ pupil and successor.
Together with V. R. Vil’yams founded State Meadow Research Institute (from 1930 All-Union Fodder Research Institute). 1922-1930 served as its director Advocated introduction of meadow and pasture crop rotation and compulsory regulation of grazing.
Worked out classification of meadow lands of the non-chernozem zone of the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics and a system of measures to improve fodder production in the various zones.
