GRIGOREV, Andrey was born in 1883.

Education

1907 graduated Dept, of Natural Science, Physico-Mathematical Faculty, St. Petersburg University.

Career

1905-1907 engaged in revolutionary activities and, as a result, deprived of right to teach. Until 1917 contributor to various journals. 1918 helped organize Petrograd Geography Institute and Dept, of Industry Geography, Board for the Study of Russia’s Natural Production Resources, renamed 1931 the Institute of Geography, USSR Academy of Science.

Carried out geographical research in North 1904 and 1921, Southern Urals 1923, Yakut Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic 1925-1926 and Kola Peninsula 1928-1929 and 1931. Member, various learned society, inch USSR Geography Society. Main works deal with characteristics of basic types of geographical environment and theoretical problems of physical geographical.

1918-1925 Professor, and Dean, Petrograd Geography Institute. 1925-1936 Professor, Leningrad University. 1931-1951 Director, Institute of Geography, USSR Academy of Science.
