Career
1917 — 18 military surgeon on Caucasian Front. 1918-1919 zemstvo physician, then department head, Tobol’sk Province former local government authority Hospital. 1919-1931 intern, then associate professor, Surgical Clinic, Tomsk University.
1931-1963 head, Chair of Hospital Surgical Clinic, Tomsk Medical Institute. 1952-1963 founder-director, Tomsk Department, Institute of Experimental Cancer Pathology and Therapy, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Medical Sciences. Founder, Tomsk Blood Transfusion Center.
Deputy, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Supreme Soviet of 1946, 1950, 1954 and 1958 convocations. 1950 loured hospitals in Sweden. From 1958 Honorary member, International Social of Surgeons.
Member, International Association of Surgeons. Honorary member, Leningrad, Kuybyshcv, Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk Surgical Social. Honorary member, Tomsk Oblast, All-Russian and All-Union Social of Surgeons.
Chairman. Tomsk Consulting Bureau, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Medical Sciences. 1959 attended 18th Congress of Surgeons, Munich. Member, editorial board, journal “Khirurgiya".
Member, ed council, journal "Klinicheskaya meditsina”. Company-ed, “Surgery” section, “Bol’shaya meditsinskaya entsiklopediya" (Large Medical Encyclopedia) (2nd ed). Devised methods of removing hydatid tapeworm from unusual locations, of treating alveolar hydatid tapeworm with formalin and of anchoring floating kidneys.
Developed new techniques of transabdominal mediastindtomy, diaphragmolomy and the radical removal of cardiac cancer. Designed several instruments for operations on the cardia and oesophagus and introduced high cerebrospinal sovcain narcosis. Wrote over 80 works.
