Career
Bartkowiak made his directorial debut with Romeo Must Die a martial-arts action film starring Jet Li and Aaliyah, which was a huge hit at the box-office, a year later he made the action-comedy film Exit Wounds starring Steven Seagal, the film was a hit in theaters. Cradle 2 the Grave was a moderate success at the box-office. Later he teamed up with Ashok Amritraj"s Hyde Park Entertainment and Capcom to direct Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.
In 2010, he worked as cinematographer in the thriller Trespass, directed by Joel Schumacher, both had collaborated before on Falling Down.
In December 2011, Hannibal Production hired Bartkowiak to direct an action-adventure $16 million budgeted film Beneath the Deep, which was scripted by Armand Speca. While Richard Rionda Delegate Castro produced the film.

According to IMDb Mr. Bartkowiak is directing anti-human trafficking real life Federal Bureau of Investigation rescue feature of Land of the Free on August 2016 with Marie Paquim, Rance Howard, Christopher Rich, and Ricarte Rivera.
During his first films as a director he collaborated a few times with the rapper DMX and the actors Anthony Anderson, Jet Li and Isaiah Washington.
As cinematographer Bartkowiak has collaborated with several well-known film directors such as Sidney Lumet, Joel Schumacher and Roger Donaldson.
