Andy played three seasons at Mercyhurst where he won an Atlantic Hockey title and participated in the National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament.

Andy played for Saint Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio. Later he served one full season and a partial season with the Cleveland Junior. Barons and a partial season with the Saint Louis Sting, both of the North American Hockey League.
He then played one season with the Sioux City Musketeers of the United States Hockey League.
Andy signed his first professional contract with the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL. He played two seasons in Wheeling, being named to play in the 2006 ECHL all-star game and to the all-rookie team In his third professional season, Andy played with the Youngstown Steelhounds of the Central Hockey League (CHL).
However, he earned a call-up to the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League. Andy played his fourth professional season with the Oklahoma City Blazers and his fifth professional season with the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees, both of the CHL. Was named a starter twice for the CHL All-Star Game (2008, 2009) and was also named a reserve once (2010).
In August 2010, Andy announced his retirement from professional hockey.
