Career
Escobedo represented the United States at the 2013 World Wrestling Championships. He was ranked as the top wrestler in the 135-pound weight class and compiled a 223-1 high school record. He also grew up in Griffith, Indiana.
Escobedo wrestled in college for the Indiana Hoosiers.

At the 2013 World Team Trials Escobedo finished 2nd, but was promoted to compete in the World Championships when Obe Blanc failed a drug test. At the 2013 World Wrestling Championships Escobedo advanced to the bronze medal match in the 55 kg division.
Escobedo ultimately lost in the bronze medal match by one point to Sezar Akgül of Turkey.
