Career

Born in Wick, Caithness, Scotland, Mackay was the first editor of The Queenslander as well as editor of the Town and Country Journal. He was the member for the state seat of Brisbane South from 1878 until 1880. He died in Portobello, Edinburgh, in February 1910.
