Anil CS Rao is a mixed media artists who works with canvas base on original photography and photo-shopped artwork.
Background
Anil CS Rao is the son of Doctor CVG Krishna Rao Doctor of Medicine (1936-2003) and Doctor Kusuma C Rao Doctor of Medicine. He is also the grandson of CVH Rao the noted journalist and author of Civil Disobedience Movements in India & India"s Case Foreign Freedom (1945).
Education
He attended Pratt Institute from 1984 to 1988, graduating with a degree in engineering.
Career
His work is unique in digital media as it attempts to create, or rather "reverse engineer," paintings from digital photography and scanned artwork. His work is noted for transcending cultural and generational boundaries through the universal symbolism of sexual His artwork is often set in various narrative frameworks: including fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.
Of the top 17 FHM India graphic/comic books listed in 2012, three were the works of Anil CS Rao.
Throughout his tenure at the college he was literally surrounded by art students and their artwork. Needless to say, the engineering study and subsequent employment was due to a "bread and butter" requirement.
After graduation, he studied art and design at F.I.T. in Manhattan, CSUF Grand Central Art Center, and the Washington School of Photography. His work has been exhibited previously at the Capitol Art Network gallery in Bethesda, Maryland, Touchstone Gallery in Washington District of Columbia, India Art Gallery in Pune, India and the Gallery Space in Hyderabad, India.
