Anil Kumar Ganguly passed of the High School in 1934 and joined the Scottish Church College in Calcutta. In 1949 he graduated from the Calcutta University - Doctor of Science (Physical Chemistry).
From 1941 to 1949 Anil Kumar Ganguly was a lecturer in Chemistry at the Scottish Church College, Calcutta, and later at the Calcutta University where he taught until 1951. In 1953-1955 he worked as Post Doctorate Research Associate at the University of Notre Dame. In 1962 Anil Kumar Ganguly worked on the Government of U.A.R as U.N. Adviser on Health Physics & Dosimetry. Later he was the Scientific Officer (D) of Atomic Energy Establishment in Trombay. Toured Europe, America and North Africa.
Dr. Ganguly had an innate interest in Radiation Metrology. He actively participated in the development of gas flow counters for low level counting. Moreover, he was a gifted teacher but he was not always solving his students' problems; he was more interested in developing in them an ability to solve problems.
