Her mother"s family escaped the Armenian Genocide from the village of Evereg (today Develi) near Kayseri. He mother Mary, who was born in New York, eventually moved to California along with her family. Vogel worked for WJET in Erie, Pennsylvania, and KCRA in Sacramento.
She began her career in Washington, District of Columbia working for American Broadcasting Company Network News.
She is a graduate of the University of Southern California with degrees in broadcast journalism and political science. She has been with the network since 2001 and is based in Los Los Angeles
