Annamarie Beckel graduated from Buckeye Valley High School in 1969 and got into Miami University. She studied at Miami University from 1969 to 1974 and received a Master of Science degree. Later she entered the University of Minnesota and received a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1982.
Annamarie Beckel worked as a science writer at the University of Wisconsin before becoming a newsletter writer and editor for the Lac du Flambeau Ojibwe Tribe in northern Wisconsin. She has worked on the reservation for fourteen years before moving to St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador in 2004. Here she worked as managing editor at Breakwater Books Ltd. from 2006 to 2011.
Annamarie Beckel also wrote such books as All Gone Widden, Palm of His Hand and Silence by Stone. Now Annamarie Beckel lives in Lakefield, Ontario, where she has moved in 2015.
