(A moving story of a teenager's struggle to settle in one ...)
A moving story of a teenager's struggle to settle in one place, with strong friendships. Flower Power has always moved around. Why should this new town, new school, new flat be any different from all the others? But she meets Cat, who shares her interest in tigers, and another friend shares her passion for old jazz classics. Perhaps her hippie parents' near-neglect won't matter, with these new people around her. But Cat can become very distant, particularly over boy friends, and as the school year progresses the relationships evolve and change. Flower finds that the only way that she can deal with it all is to sing her songs, and her old favorites—but will she ever find the courage to sing with such strength to a roomful of people? ('There once was a girl named Bruna. She lived in a little...)
'There once was a girl named Bruna. She lived in a little hut all by herself and she was always cold.' However hard Bruna tries, she always feels chilly. She bundles herself up in lots of clothes, she piles duvets and blankets on the bed, and surrounds herself with hot water bottles. Even travelling to distant, sunny lands doesn't make a difference. But when Bruna returns home she strikes up an unexpected friendship, which is warming in more ways than one. A memorable story with all the charm of a classic fairy tale, illustrated in delicate and flowing watercolour, it is sure to win the hearts of all who read it. Praise for Tom Finger: 'The elegantly eerie drawings make this a magical winter's tale.' "Independent". 'Exquisitely illustrated in watercolour, this haunting winter tale has classic stamped all over it.' "Sainsbury's Magazine". 'A storybook with genuing depth that echoes well-loved fairy stories and magical tales with its snow-filled setting and elusive feline hero.' - "Child Education". 'enchanting' - "Financial Times". 'Takes you by surprise with its other worldliness, its un-Englishness.' - "Books for Keeps".
