Studied at Alexandra College. Royal Irish Acad, of Music, Dublin. Examiner in Music at Royal University of Ireland, 1892-1895.
Re-elected, 1900; Examiner in Music to Irish Intermediate Board of Education, 1900-1901. Conductor Dublin Choral Union. Organist at several Dublin churches, 1887 -97.
Originator of “Feis Ceoil” (Irish Musical Festival) Movement. Conductor Hampstead Harmonic Society, 1898. Professor of Music, journalist, lecturer, and composer.
