His political career began when he was nominated as the candidate for the N49 Nangka, as the incumbent Member, Dato" Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah wished not to be re-nominated.
Membership
In the 2011 state election, he was chosen as the new Member of the State Legislative Assembly, beating the PKR candidate Norisham Mohamed Ali, an engineer in the oil and gas industry, by a majority of 5,302 votes.
