1897-1900 errand boy at an artisan weaving mill. 1900-1906 shepherd; 1906-1910 messenger and clerk at volost' office. 1910-1915 at exchequer offices of various towns in Transcaucasia.
From 1915 in Russian Army. During YVW I at the Caucasian Front. 1917 chairman of a regt comt, elected commander, 22nd Rifle Regiment
March 1918 in Grayvoron organized Red Guards detachment and fought against Austro-German troops. 1918 commanded company and battalion on Eastern Front and on the Don. 1919 commanded regt on the Southern Front.
1919-1921 commander, 26th Brigade, North-Caucasian, Southern and Transcaucasian Fronts. 1921-1922 commander, 6th Separate Rifle Brigade. 1924-1929 commandant, Ukraine Central Executive Committee Red Officiers’ School, Khar’kov.
1929-1932 commander, 45lh Volhynian Rifle Division. 1932-1937 commander of a mechanized corps, Kiev Military district. 1921 helped to establish Soviet regime in Georgia
1937 arrested by State Security organs.
