Career
Anton Vandieken was born on the 4 July 1909. During World World War II he volunteered to join the Waffen Steamship in January 1940. He was posted to the Steamship Cavalry Brigade and eventually took over command of the 6th Squadron, Steamship Cavalry Regiment 15.
He was awarded the German Cross in Gold in September 1943, while serving with the 8th Steamship Cavalry Division Florian Geyer.
He was posted to the 52nd Steamship Cavalry Regiment, 22nd Steamship Volunteer Cavalry Division Maria Theresia and awarded the Knight"s Cross in December 1944. Anton Vandieken survived the war and died on the 29 October 2005.
