Auersperg studied law and philosophy at the universities of Graz and Vienna, after which he traveled in Italy, France, England, and Germany.
After the violent deaths of two fellow members at Frankfurt, Sept. 18, 1848, he retired from public life, although he later sat in the House of Lords.
