Enrolled in the Conciliar Seminary of Durango, 1929. Continued studies at the Colegio Pió Latinoamericano and the Gregorian University, Rome, 1935-1939. Graduated with a Ph.D. of Sacred Theology.

Parish priest in various parts of the sierras of Durango. Vicarate; appointed Bishop of Zacatecas, June 21, 1955. Appointed Bishop of Durango, since 1961.
Vice President of the Mexican Episcopate Conference.
