Antony James Stuart Spawforth

Background

Ethnicity: Antony's father, Arthur Cecil Bingley Wingrave, was British, and his mother, Mary Paterson Spawforth, was Scottish.

Spawforh was born in 1950, in London, England, UK, the son of Arthur Cecil Bingley and Mary Spawforth.

Education

In 1971 Antony entered the University of Birmingham, continuing his studies to 1982. In 1982 he received the title of Doctor of Philosophy. Later, he deepened his knowledge in the history of the ancient Greeks, giving lectures at universities. He is also known as the author and co-author of several scientific and historic books. His works are widely known both in the scientific community and among students.

Career

In 1978 Antony was an assistant director of British School at Athens, in Greece, and he was working there til 1981.

In 1984 - 1991 he worked as a lecturer in University of Newcastle upon Tyne, in England.

In 1991 - 2000 Spawforth worked as a senior lecturer in ancient history and Greek archaeology.

In 2000 Antony started to work as professor of ancient history, and he continous his work til nowdays.

From 1988 til nowdays he also works as curator of Shefton Museum of Greek Art and Archaeology.
