Trajan's Forum was the last of the Imperial fora to be constructed in ancient Rome. This forum was built on the order of the emperor Trajan with the spoils of war from the conquest of Dacia, which ended in 106. The Forum was built between 106 and 112. In modern times only a section of the markets and the column of Trajan remain. A number of columns which historically formed the Basilica Ulpia remained on site, and have been re-erected.

The Odeon of Domitian was an ancient Roman building on the Campus Martius in Rome, used for plays and musical competitions and with room for an audience of 11,000. Begun by Domitian in imitation of Greek odeons (neighbouring his stadium to its south), it was completed or restored in 106 by Apollodorus of Damascus. The outline of its cavea is still preserved by the façade of the Palazzo Massimo alle Colonne, but the only actual remains is a cipoline monolithic column (possibly part of the stage) just in front of the Palazzo's rear façade.

Apollodorus was born about AD 50 in Damascus, Roman Syria (nowadays Syrian Arab Republic).
Apollodorus is credited with the design of most of the imperial buildings erected under Trajan, for whom he constructed Trajan's Bridge over the Danube, for the 105-106 campaign in Dacia. He also designed the Forum Trajanum and Trajan's Column within the city of Rome and the triumphal arches of Trajan at Beneventum and Ancona. He is widely credited as the architect of the third iteration of the Pantheon, and cited as the builder of the Alconétar Bridge in Spain.
In 106 he also completed or restored the odeon begun in the Campus Martius under Domitian. Trajan's Column, in the centre of the Forum, is celebrated as being the first triumphal monument of its kind.
He also wrote a treatise on Siege Engines (Πολιορκητικά), addressed to an unnamed emperor, likely Trajan.
On the accession of Hadrian, whom he had offended by ridiculing his performances as architect and artist, Apollodorus was banished and, shortly afterwards, being charged with imaginary crimes, put to death.
