Background

Waterman, Arba Nelson was born on February 5, 1836 in Greensboro, Vermont, United States. Son of Loring F. and Mary (Stevens) Waterman.

Education

Bachelor of Arts, Norwich U., 1856. Student Albany Law School, 1860-1861. Doctor of Laws, University of Vermont, 1892.

Career

Colonel 100th Illinois Volunteers in Civil War. Wounded at battle of Chickamauga. Horse killed under him in battle.

Admitted to bar, Supreme Court of the New York, 1861, and practiced at Chicago. Judge Circuit Court Cook County, Illinois, 1887-1903. Assigned as judge Appellate Court, 1st District of Illinois Dean John Marshall Law School, since 1902.
