STIRLING, Archibald was born in 1867. 2nd son of Sir William Stirling-Maxwell, Pth Baronet, Knight of the Order of the Thistle, of Keir, and of Pollok, Company Renfrew, and 1st wife, Lady Anna Maria, 2nd daughter of 10th Earl of Leven and Melville, and hcir-pres. to Sir John Stirling-Maxwell, 10th Baronet.
Served in Egyptian Army, 1899- 1900 (medal with clasp Soudan). South Africa, 1900-1902 (South African medal 3 clasps, King’s medal 2 clasps). Captain Reserve of Officers since 1903. D.L.; Lieutenant-Colonel Lovat's Scouts Yeomanry.
