Physician; 1944 Champion of Black Sea Fleet. 1944 set his first All-Union and World record in middle heavyweight class. 1952 competed successfully in Helsinki Olympics.
1957 placed 1st in World Championship at Teheran. Competed in contests at Paris, Stockholm, Vienna, Munich, New York and Warsaw. 1959 member, Central Council, USSR Union of Sports Society and Organization.
1959 placed 1st in 2nd Spartakiada of the Popular of the USSR.
