Armando Carlini studied at the University of Bologna where he received a degree in literature and philosophy.
Armando Carlini started his career as a teacher of Italian and History of philosophy in such cities of Italy as Iesi, Foggia, Cesena, Trani, Parma and Pisa. In 1917, he replaced Giovanni Gentile at the University of Pisa and became a Professor. He held this post until 1927 and then became rector of the University of Pisa. Carlini left this post in 1935.
Armando Carlini published his first book La mente di Giovanni Bovio in 1914. Later he wrote such books as La vita dello spirito, La religione nella scuola, La religiosità dell'arte e della filosofia, Saggio sul pensiero filosofico e religioso del Fascismo and Breve storia della filosofia. Carlini translated from German and edited Martin Heidegger's books.
