Now building new town of Yankeetown, Florida, mayor same. President Florida Inland and Coastal Waterways Association Now planning the ideal city of Yankeetown at the gulf terminus of the Cross-Florida Ship Canal.

Knotts, Armanis F. was born on January 30, 1856 in Highland Company, Ohio, United States. Son of Frank D. and Margaret (Bell) Knotts.

Education

Bachelor of Science, Valparaiso U., 1882, Master of Arts, 1883, C.E., 1883, Bachelor of Laws, 1887.

Career

President Central Indiana Normal school and Business College, 1883-1885 inclusive. Surveyor of Porter Company, Indiana, 1886-1887. Practiced law at Hammond, Indiana, 25 years.

Member Indiana House of Representatives, 1899-1900. Mayor of Hammond, 1902. Bought the land for City of Gary, Indiana, and planned the city for United States Steel Company, 1906.

Started the movement to save the Indiana dunes for a nat. park. Organized National Dunes Park Association (1st president). First president Florida Division Izaak Walton League.

Membership
